Ningen explores how the environment, including the audience, influences the momentary dance that emerges and how the Japanese concept ma can be thought to be present between the people and tangible and intangible elements in the shared space of performance. The work is the second artistic part of Mammu Rankanen's artistic doctoral dissertation, Vessel of Emptiness - Ma. The Formation of the Inner and Outer Space of a Dancer, at the Performing Arts Research Center of the University of the Arts Helsinki's Theatre Academy.
